How can you discreetly relieve the problem of heavy legs in the office?
The problem of heavy legs affects around 70% of women at some point in their lives, with varying degrees of intensity. As well as being painful, this condition can sometimes be unsightly when the legs are swollen or prone to varicose and spider veins.
Fortunately, there is an innovative and discreet solution to improve blood circulation in seated legs.
A new, effective approach: acupressure for the feet
Acupressure, performed using acupressure cushions and mats, has already proven effective in relieving back pain, stress, and sleep disorders. This was confirmed by our survey of 325 users regarding acupressure mats!
Acupressure, achieved using acupressure cushions and mats, has already proved its worth in relieving back pain, stress and sleep disorders… Our survey of 325 users of acupressure mats confirmed just that!
Aware of the problems of heavy legs and their link to a sedentary lifestyle at work, Climsom decided to apply the acupressure technique and adapt it to address these issues!
This is how the Climsom Zen acu-reflexology cushion came into being!
The acu-reflexology cushion: how does it work?
The Climsom Zen acu-reflexology cushion combines acupressure and foot reflexology. It is filled with foam of ideal density to provide the bounce needed to imitate walking. It also has a more rounded centre to stimulate the arch of the foot more effectively.
In this sense, we could say that the acu-reflexology cushion allows you to ‘walk sitting down’.
It counteracts the harmful effects of prolonged sitting and, more specifically, the sensation of heavy legs.
With the acu-reflexology cushion, you can simulate walking to relieve heavy legs, but also alternate these active moments with moments of light self-massage to benefit from the effects of foot reflexology. Better than an office footrest, this cushion will give you a very pleasant sensation as well as relieving plantar tension.
Simply let the weight of your feet rest on the pimples. Your feet will ‘intuitively’ make the movements they need, made pleasant by the cushion and its pimples.
Are you a stress ball fan? Your hands knead it naturally without you even having to think about it. And yet it does you good!
If you tend to wiggle your feet when you’re sitting down, tell yourself that on the same principle, they’ll also move naturally on this cushion! Let your feet move intuitively on the cushion, guided by your sensations…
The acu-reflexology cushion is covered with 2781 hypoallergenic plastic spikes. Sharper than those on the acupressure mat, they boost blood circulation and encourage venous return. As a result, blood stagnating in the legs rises more easily to the top of the body, relieving problems of heavy legs!
Supplied with its hessian bag, it’s easy to carry around and can easily accompany you to work! The cushion’s handle also makes it easy to handle, so you can slip it under your desk and pick it up again.

How to Improve Leg Circulation While Sitting:
Tips and Complementary Exercises
1. Adopt new and good habits
Massages with essential oils and cold water jets often have an immediate positive effect, but they can’t be practiced in all circumstances. Here are some tips to practice at the office to prevent and relieve heavy leg problems.
Swap Coffee for Herbal Tea
It is recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day! However, it’s not always easy for everyone to achieve this…
If you prefer a hot drink, replace your coffee with herbal tea: it counts!
Did you know? Coffee increases the feeling of discomfort in cases of venous insufficiency.
Limiting coffee could also help you reduce “coffee-smoke” breaks, as smoking is also to be avoided since it harms your blood circulation!
Instead, drink herbal teas made with red vine, blackcurrant, and blueberries as these beverages stimulate blood circulation and venous return.
Adopt the Right Position
Some positions promote blood circulation more than others. It is important to identify which ones!
- Crossing your legs blocks blood circulation and contributes to heavy leg problems. Placing both feet on the floor or on a footrest while sitting is a more comfortable position.
- Standing for too long also makes it harder for blood to return from the veins to the heart, which promotes the sensation of heavy legs.
Ideally, you should sit down from time to time (but not for too long!), and if that’s not possible, try to walk or move around occasionally.
Adjust Your Work Attire
Jeans have become common in the professional environment, much to the delight of some! However, tight clothing can restrict blood circulation and venous return.
Therefore, opt for loose and comfortable clothing, and choose shoes that facilitate venous return rather than tight jeans, high heels, calf-tight boots, or slimming tights!
A doctor can also recommend compression stockings of a class suitable for the severity of your heavy leg issues.
No, compression stockings aren’t just for your grandmother! In fact, they’ll also become your best friends if you travel by plane frequently!
Lower the Temperature of the Work Area
If your workplace allows, lower the heating by a few degrees!
Heat exacerbates the sensation of heavy legs because veins dilate, making blood circulation more difficult. Excessive heat can also trigger varicose vein problems.
Even in winter, be cautious of excessive warmth, as heaters set to very high temperatures can cause discomfort. A temperature of 19°C in a living space is often sufficient and also helps save energy!
2. Some Exercises to Do at Work to Relieve Heavy Legs
If You Work Sitting Down:
- Place your feet flat on the floor.
- Then place the palms of your hands on the inside of your knees.
- Try to bring your knees closer together while applying pressure with your hands to resist this movement. This helps engage the abductors.
If You Work Standing Up:
- Place the tip of one foot on a step, for example, so that your heel is positioned lower than the tip of your foot.
- Perform flexion and extension movements. Practice this movement for two to three minutes on each foot.
Applying these tips daily helps prevent the risk of heavy legs and alleviates the discomfort associated with this condition. These small daily habits can be complemented in the evening with massages using oils or creams.
Sleeping with your legs cool on a cooling mattress topper or with your legs slightly elevated can also be very helpful. The ideal duo? Use the acupressure pillow during the day and the climate-controlled mattress topper to activate blood circulation at night.
All these tips should, of course, be tailored with the help of a doctor based on the type of condition and its severity. However, preparing your legs for summer at the office without anyone noticing: it’s definitely possible!
